It’s much more energizing than the original bubblegum pink exterior. I started the DIY Painting Tips blog in 2015 to start sharing everything I’ve learned over the years and help all the people who’d rather tackle their painting projects themselves.

A pale yellow home with white accents is sure to make all who enter, and even those who pass by, smile. For his family’s Florida vacation home, designer Doniphan Moore chose to paint the classic Georgian’s columns in white to contrast with the light yellow walls. If you have a Spanish Mediterranean Revival home, revive the exterior with a shade of yellow that’s reminiscent of a sunrise.
Sherwin Williams Paint Color Mountain Road is a beautiful exterior house color for the upcoming year of 2023. This rich, neutral shade of green evokes a sense of warmth and comfort that will easily become the focal point of your home exterior. You can still achieve a modern look without using shocking hues if those colors just aren’t for you. Here, greige—that’s gray and beige—with a teal door and natural wood and stone accents puts a modern spin on the traditional neighborhood home. This combination still looks warm and welcoming without feeling dated.
We’re not done with dark and nature-inspired hues just yet — you’ll notice a similar theme in our predictions for 2023. And we’re not alone — even Sherwin Williams selected a warm, earthy hue as their 2023 color of the year. Take immersing yourself in nature to the next level with a forest green home exterior color. To avoid blending the home into its environment too much, paint the top half forest green and the lower half white, as Marshall Watson Interiors did on this Michigan home.
I started in production and commercial painting, then moved over to new construction and remodeling during the boom of the early 2000s. Post 2010, I niched down into residential painting where I have done everything from exteriors, decks, interiors, furniture and more. Over the last few years, I’ve had a focus on kitchen cabinets.
It has an equal mix of gray and beige tones with slight green undertones. On the contemporary home above, the designer suggested Grant Beige as a field color because it brings warmth and softness as a balance to all of the square edges. Oyster Bay and Sea Salt are very similar, but Oyster Bay has gray undertones. In darker settings, those gray undertones could be more noticeable, but not enough to overshadow its green profile. Oyster Bay, like Sea Salt, has a calming effect and is a great choice for homes located near the water.
With an LRV of 72, this hue is considered an off-white, but calling it a light greige wouldn’t be wrong either. The warmth and creaminess of Oyster White lends itself to more traditional-style homes, but we also love it on modern farmhouses. Then add subtle contrast with a distinct black, as designer Shazalynn Cavin Winfrey did for her Texas home by painting the windows and doors in Jet Black by Benjamin Moore.
